Before putting them on e-bay, I want to offer
them to this community, they are originals A-7 VOICE OF THE THEATER enclosures with416/8ohms woofers and 806/8ohms drivers with the real 511 horns, they have the Vott stickers on them, they have been in storage since 1983, I will have pics of them tomorrow. There is a company that makes copies
at 3000.00 each, I am far from 6000.00 for both, you will have to consider that I live
near Montreal, Canada if you want them shipped.
So if you are interested in owning a piece of Altec's history, you can contact me at
[email protected].

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Assuming they aren't really beat up with blown drivers, and all the corners broken off the horns, why so cheap?
If only I were closer..... I like the look of the vertical vents.

Goodwill-----I just want rid of the things, can't use them anymore.
Also the drivers aren't the most desireable----418 8H woofs, 808 drivers, 809 crossovers and 511 horns.
The cabinets are in good shape.
I'm retired, I can run them up I-75 :-)

Hi everyone. I just got the price for these A-7's that Stareur's selling. He's asking $2000.00 for the pair. I passed. Perhaps someone else may be interested. Anyway, he's claiming that's 1/3 of the price of new ones... If you go to http://www.alteclansing.com/legacy/ You'll find new A-7's being offered for $5800 each (free shipping). That's $11,600 a pair. In light of that, someone may feel the price if fair. I've been into Altec far to long to think so.

The price is ridiculous. Look at the Magificents that just sold on Ebay.-$1600 with another speaker that could be sold off.
And the Magnificents are worth far more than what he has.
Pairs of these are on Ebay anywhere from 700-1200. So he is definitely gouging.
As far as the Altec Pro A-7's, I suspect the intent never was to sell them. It was more a publicity stunt- see, we can build VOT's.
I'd rather buy ten sets of real ones off Ebay than one set of those.

A friend just sold a gorgeous pair that came from behind the theater screen and had not one blemish except for years of dust. He got 1 bid for his opening price of $800 and sold them.
Where anyone gets the thought these are $6000.00 speakers is beyond my comprehension.
Those Magnificents that just sold where a gorgeous set and well worth the price IMO and much more desireable then what is offered here.
Wonder if he let the storage cabinets and dollies go with them?

The only people who think they are $6000 speakers are those trying to charge too much for them. The only way to justify a ridiculous asking price is to inflate the retail.
There are auctions on Ebay offering $200 speakers for 19.95. When you read, they are an 8 inch and a peizo. Ridiculous retail, probably aren't even a good deal at 20 bucks.
At some point it becomes false advertising. Note he didn't even mention the name of the company offering them for $6000. An honest seller would have provided a link.
